Historical Event on 6/4/1997
Indian National Satellite (INSAT-2D), fourth satellite in INSAT-2 series, launched. This has additional capabilities such as mobile satellite service, business communication and television outreach beyond Indian boundaries. This became inoperable due to power bus anamoly since Oct. 4, 1997. It was launched by European launch vehicle, Ariane from Kourov in French Guyana.

2/1/1972	International Airports Authority of India established.

1/12/1934	Surya Sen (Master Da), revolutionary leader of the Indian Republican Army, who attacked the armoury of Chittagong with 62 men of the Indian Republican Army, was hanged at Chittgong Jail by the Britishers.
7/31/1948	State Transport Corporation was established in Calcutta.
1/9/1998	Three RJD ministers in the Gujral Cabinet - Mr. Raghuvansh Prasad Singh, Capt. Jai Narayan Nishad and Mrs. Kanti Singh - resign.
