3/30/1699	Guru Govind Singh the 10th Guru of Sikh's established 'Khalsa Panth'.
6/28/1972	Prasanta Chandra Mahalanobis died. He was the first founder of Indian statistical Institute to receive world recognition. In 1958, he started his national sample surveys. A Sample survey means assessing a situation by studying a part of it which would represent the whole, some of his proposals were included in the second five year paln. His original work made him elected as fellow of the Royal society in 1945.
8/19/1946	Cabinet Mission's plan announced an interim government, which was formed by reconstituting the Viceroy's Executive Council. The Muslim League took umbrage and started direct action. Riots broke out as Muslims attacked Hindu's in Calcutta and the rest of Bengal. The Viceroy persuaded the Muslim League to join the government. But the League declined to join the Constituent Assembly unless the demand for a seperate state of ""Pakistan"" was conceded.
3/1/1916	Habib Rahman, great Architect, was born at Calcutta.
11/15/1988	Dalai Lama agreed for less then independent country to save the cultural heritage of Tibet.
4/13/1999	D. Sripada Rao, former Speaker of the Andhra Pradesh Assembly, is shot dead by People's War Group naxalites near Annaram village in Karimnagar district.
4/28/1701	John Norris of Britain met Aurangjeb at Parnela in South India.
11/22/1915	Mohandas Gandhi returns to India.
