Historical Event on 4/1/1985
Central Institute of Brackishwater Aquaculture was established during the 7th Plan period. The Institute started functioning independently since April 1987. The Headquarters of the Institute are located in Chennai with field and farm facilities at Muttukadu and three Research Centres at Kakdwip(West Bengal), Puri(Orissa) and Narakkal (Kerala).

5/13/1967	Dr. Zakhir Hussain became 3rd President of India. He was the first Muslim President of Indian Union. He held this position till August 24, 1969.
8/22/1984	R. Venkataraman was elected the Vice President of India (1984 -1987).
1/1/1986	Fourth Pay Commission implemented.
9/24/1932	Poona Pact' was signed between Mahatma Gandhi and Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar. This historical agreement allowed increased representation for untouchables. Also, Gandhi ended his fast.
9/11/1913	Waman Ganesh Talwalkar, Marathi journalist and story writer, was born.
5/24/1999	Noted wrestling coach Dronacharya awardee Guru Hanuman passed away in a road accident near Meerut.
1/16/1992	For the first time in a decade, India decides to import one million tonnes of wheat.
8/4/1997	Nilesh Kulkarni becomes the first Indian to take a wicket with his first ball in Test Cricket (Colombo).
