Historical Event on 11/1/1956
Indian Government re-organizes the states according to linguistic principles and inaugurates second Five-Year Plan. The states declared were Madhya Pradesh, Punjab by merging Patiala & PEPSU, Mumbai was divided in Gujarat, Maharashtra and Karnataka. Union Territories namely Delhi, Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Lakshdeep Minikai and Amin Divi were approved.

9/27/1856	Pratap Narayan Mishra, Hindi writer, was born. He is one of the pioneers of mordern Hindi language.
5/4/1854	The first stamp was officially issued from Calcutta where the first modern post office was established.
9/13/1998	Dr. Justice Adarsh Sein Anand is appointed Chief Justice of India.
5/26/1946	Gandhiji considers 'Plan' the best document produced by British Government under the circumstances.
