Ingredients
Ripe Tomatoes - 2 Tamarind - gooseberry size Toor dal- 3 tsp Rasam powder- 2 tsp Turmeric powder - 1/4 tsp Hing - 1/2 tsp Curry leaves - few Coriander leaves - few Salt - as required To Temper: Ghee- 1 tsp Jeera - 1 tsp Mustard seeds- 1 tsp Red chilli -1
Cooking Instructions
*Pressure cook Toor dal, mash and cook aside after adding 1/2cup of water *Soak Tamarind in hot water for 10 mins and extract the pulp ( 1 cup approximately) *Chop tomatoes finely. *Heat Kadai, put the tomatoes and add the tamarind juice. Mash the tomatoes well in the kadai. *Add hing, turmeric powder, rasam powder and salt to it. *Let it boil for 5-7 mins till the raw smell of tamarind goes. *Once this is boiled, add the toor dal along with curry leaves and coriander leaves. *Switch off the flame once nice aroma comes and froth appears. *Take a small pan and heat ghee. Put mustard seeds, red chilli and Jeera. *Temper this on rasam.
Serve hot with rice and papad or can be taken as a soup.
