9/10/1966	Parliament approved the Punjab Re-organisation Bill for the formation of Haryana and Punjab as two independent states.
10/15/1990	Bharat Ratna, India's highest award, was given to Dr. Nelson Rolihlahla Mandela (b-1918), the South African black nationalist leader who arrived in India on a five-day visit. He is the first non-Asian to get this honour.
11/17/1932	The Third Round Table Conference began in London. It was not attended by the Congress as the real Indian participation in the making of the constitution was negligible. Since Gandhi was in prison because of his civil disobedience movement he could not attend it either. This conference ended on 24th November 1932 without achieving anything.
12/11/1991	The centre notifies the interim order of the Cauvery Water Disputes Tribunal directing Karnataka to release 205 tmc ft of water to Tamil Nadu.
6/15/1960	Bardwan University was established in West Bengal.
8/8/1948	Dr. Yellapragada Subbarow, saintly scientist and nobel prize winner, passed away at Pearl River, New York.
7/18/1980	Second Experimental launch of Space Launch Vehicle -3 (SLV-3) by Indian made 35 kilogram Rohini satellite (RS-1) successfully placed in orbit. It was used for measuring in-flight performance of second experimental launch of SLV-3. The launch took from Sriharikota and India became the sixth nation to put a satellite into orbit.
6/19/1997	Indian Prime Minister and his Pakistani counterpart Nawaz Sharif, spoke for first time on restored hotline, to reiterate their committment to comprehensive dialogue, including Kashmir.
10/27/1997	UP ministry expanded by inducting 70 new members thus taking the total number of a record 93 members.
10/31/1920	Inaugural session of the All India Trade Union Congress was conducted in Bombay.
